They alter the natural world, the weather, the outdoor land- scape, and thus aect our own mood. In winter, we love to cuddle up around the fireplace – we are drawn to sources of light, for their brightness and warmth. And we tell stories and make our own stories, sharing them with those we love. Our Swarovski Crystal Worlds Magazine #6 brings you a collection of these winter stories. Stories of the Light Festival at Swarovski Crystal Worlds, where the darkness of winter evenings is lit up with radiant lights. Designer Tord Boontje tells us about winter’s special fascination for him. The influence of light on the way we see things is illustrated spectacularly by the photographer Axel Springer: a selection of his photos shows Chambers of Wonder you may already be familiar with, from a completely new perspective. When a carousel turns, our perspective is naturally altered. We take a closer look at the details and ask the artist Jaime Hayon and our young reporters to give their interpretation of the fantasy figures. Telling stories with light? The artist Susanne Rottenbacher shows how it’s done: her “Lily Pond” installation at the Swarovski Kristallwelten Store Inns- bruck is impressive both in scale and gracefulness. 2020 is a jubilee year for Swarovski Crystal Worlds: the Giant celebrates his 25th birthday. We take the opportunity to look back at its evolution and some of the people it has encountered along the way since 1995. Sport is also a long-established tradition at Swarovski, from the clubs that were first set up and supported by Daniel Swarovski, to the promotion of the WSG Swarovski Tirol into the Austrian national league. The president of the soccer club, Diana Langes-Swarovski , talks in a recent interview about planning for success and about team spirit on the soccer field. What is your winter story?
